Casalinga is one of our favourite Johannesburg venues to work with, the staff are brilliant and it’s such a beautiful canvas as a starting point. When Lindsey and Junaid came to us about their wedding set for Saturday, 21st September, we were so excited. They wanted a tropical vibe (nothing white and boring here!) – and it had to be equally bright and beautiful. A breath of fresh air! A break from current trends, although still quite ‘boho’, this wedding felt like a tropical paradise. Bright bursts of colour wherever you looked.
Going to the flower market for this wedding, Lee was a like a kid in a candy store. She spotted some gorgeous dyed rainbow roses and added them in as a special touch for the bride. There were masses and masses of the brightest, colour popping flowers that we got to work with. Everything from anemones, poppies, ranunculus, roses, cymbidium orchids, tulips, gerberas, pincushions, snapdragons and so much more. And loads and loads of lush greenery – huge monstera leaves, long-leafed pennygum leaves, palm fronds and pepperberry branches with their gorgeous herringbone shape.
Saturday the 21st September rolled around and what a glorious day it was. The breeze gently blowing the long-leafed pennygum leaves in the huge table arrangements added to the magic of the day.
We put together beautiful flower crowns for the flower girls who had gorgeous little braids in their hair and we handmade them some little star wands with ribbons and bells. We did all the beautiful bridal flowers and boutonnieres, and added loads of petals to the chapel, added some tropical touches to the existing chapel arrangements and made special petal bags for all the guests.
The tables were an absolute vision with the giant arrangements on rose gold stands, and we added in lots of beautiful votive candles for a warm glow with lower vases for some interest. The children had a special table we did and each child received a fabulous goodie bag filled with fun activities and surprises to keep them busy.
Lindsey and Junaid were just the most gracious and happiest couple – giving us some creative license, and what a joy it was to have been a part of your phenomenal day. Fields of Colour wishes you an abundance of happiness in this new chapter of your lives together as the Halim’s, thank you!
